Safety wired?

I have a question for those who might know.
I bought a ZF that was supposed to be rebuilt and Safety wired. The trans is out of the car, how would I check to see if indeed it was safety wired?
I don't know much about transmissions and have been a little afraid to open and or explore.

Simplest way would be to remove the drain plug and shine a light in there to see if you can spot any safety wire on the ring gear bolts. Or, pick up an inexpensive bore-scope from Harbor Freight to inspect the ring gear bolts through the drain hole.
