Sorry - I had to take some "small file size" pics. Hope they are viewable. I forgot to mention that the passenger seat back had been modified to fit closer to the "hump" and give the passenger additional room.

Larss- I'm 6'-2" and have the same problem. Swapped out my original seats for a set of Gary Herrig's Corvette C4s. I removed the springs and bolted them directly to the floor. I have about 1/2" of head clearance but a helmet is out of the question. I have a set of dropped pans (not installed yet) and am STILL debating about dropping the pans or trying another seat. I like the look of the C4s. What are you planning on doing to accomodate your 6'-2" frame? A plain bucket (Sparco or Kirkey) is the way to go for clearance, but you lose the classic interior look in my opinion.

I'm using my broken-down stock seats, which are flat as a pancake and really thin. I also moved my pedals away from the seat about 1 1/2" with a spacer. I'm considering having a set of seats made from a set of "Guara" frames (sp?) which seem to fit, and will bolt to the floor. I'm hoping I can get a reasonable fit and appropriate look by using patterned leather for the seat center, and smooth leather for the sides, and not much padding except for some lumbar support. Other ideas?

Where did you find the Guara frame? That's certainly a unique solution. Keep us posted. I'm looking for alternatives to the pathetic and painful stock seats.

Kevin - Steve Wilkinson of Wilkinson Pantera fame (562 634-3434) can get them. They're not cheap, but starting with a frame you can build up the seat you need. Good luck!

For those interested, the Scheel seats are very comfortable. Mine are black and red and support the lumbar very good.

They look comfy but higher than stock seats. Do they have you sit higher in the saddle?

Yes - both the seat bottom and the seat back are thicker than a stock Pantera seat. I'd estimate that a person 5'10" would fit comfortably if the seats were bolted in place without seat tracks. If you fit, they are very comfortable and supportive. I'm sure almost anyone would fit in a car with dropped pans, but unfortunately mine are still stock. Let me know if you have any interest.

Here's another pic from a different angle...shows the modification to get the passenger seat in closer to the "hump".

I had driven a 71 with these seats and stock floors.
They are very comfortable but my head was against the roof. I'm 6'2" also.
In a dropped floor pan car they may be the best seats you can use in the Pantera (functionally).
I'm already set with seats so I can't use them, but I sure can recommend them to everyone.
Lars, how did you relocate the pedals 1-1/2"?

Steve Wilkinson sells a polished spacer to take the pedals out that far. He also moved the brake pedal slightly farther away from the gas pedal so my size 13's don't snag (most of the time). The spacer was apparently developed in the Ford days to address complaints about leg room.

Can you take some pics of this spacer or the setup you have for your pedals? I've got those size 13s also!

Here's a pic of the spacer. Pictures of the pedals didn't show much - brake pedal was moved left about 3/4", which made a big difference.

I ran out a scoped it all out after seeing the picture.
I presume that you had to drill new holes through the trunk floor for the vacuum hose at least, correct?
Your spacer appears to be approximately 1 inch thick?
Did you have to send them your entire pedal assembly?
It's a fantastic idea.
