...as I understand it, Corvettes accept date codes on castings up to 6 months prior to car serial number...And "Bloomington Gold" can still accept a car w/o 'matching' serial numbers (since reproductions were so good there is as much danger rejecting a true original as a well done original). And Corvettes were mass produced and have so many incredible examples left, the only way to distinguish is via the minute. Our cars are a bit different, and originality seems to be a goal and not a necessary criteria. If you can find your original motor, cool for you...But otherwise, it seems the Vette owners are happy with something that strives to be original...

You need to get the casting number of the block right too. Look for a austalian cleveland block (didn't the Gt5S use austalian cast blocks?) with casting number around the time the car was produced
