"Secret" screen in AC line at Evaporator Core...

I'm working on getting my AC to work for the first time since I've owned my '72. It has been mentioned that there is a small screen that should be cleaned where the lines enter the Evaporator Core. Is this screen in the larger (lower positioned) line, or the smaller (higher positioned with the expansion valve) line. I can't seem to find a screen anywhere. Maybe it has been removed.

The conical filter is in the side (horizontal leg of the expansion valve, not in the port going to the under-dash evaporator. It is approx. 1/4" OD x 3/4" long, pointed at the far end. To remove, hook it out with a scribe & soak in some paint thinner or other solvent to soften rubber flecks. While both or my AC units had this screen in (a '72 & a 73), it may not be universal. One of the vendors told me they remove it for R-134a conversions because the crummy AC characteristics of this freon needs higher flow.
