I made an intresting find on my car. Anybody else find this too ?

I am in the middle of painting my car. In the process, I have removed all the wheel well inter splash shields and all various body molding pieces, door moldings, vents in the front hood and the vent brackets on the bottom side of the front hood, etc.

I stripped all the paint off everything down to bare metal. What I found is that every piece of molding and all the splash shields I've taken off the car have the last 3 numbers of my cars serial number on them. The last 5 of my car serial number is 09178. All these metal parts, except the vent hood brackets have 178 stamped on them.

Is this just a flook or did DeTomaso plan it this way ?

The vent hood brackets have 179 on them...Does this mean 09179 is running around with nothing to hold the vents on ? :-)

Hey Rick,

Saw your post the other day and thought that might be you.

I want to and have wanted to, but just can't do it without my car being with me. It's kinda like going to a butt kicking contest with one leg. Know what I mean. It just doesn't get it.

We primered the first coat yesterday. We still have one more coat of primer, 2 coats of Artic White, 2 Coats of Ghost Silver Pearl rolling through the back half sides and then 3 coats of clear to do and a lot of wet sanding in between. Then we have to buff it out and I have to get everything back on the car. AND....this %&*$$%*&% weather is not helping us out or the paint dry. I don't think it'll be ready for the meeting on the 11th. But it sure in hell will be ready for the one in Febuary and I plan on being there.

Thanks for asking Rick. I've thought of you all, many many times. I think the last time I saw you guys is when we had the meeting at the bowling alley I had. Much has gone on since then with both the car and I as you probably know. Trying to get caught up...

This was when we first started months ago. We were talking about the lines I wanted on it. So we decided to do the back half in Ghost Silver Pearl. The arrow you see would also be in the Ghost Pearl, but the jury is still out on this this part yet. I've got about another 10 days before I have to decide on the Ghosting.
