Based on the (admitedly poor quality) photos below, does anyone think my Shift Rod Support needs to be replaced? It holds the shift rod all right, but there is some "play" as the plastic around the center hole is worn.

Wilkinson sells the part for $78, which translates to about $150 CDN once exchange and shipping are factored.

Erik,

The shift rod is 18mm dia. you can get an 18mm heim joint that will do the job equally well. Being in Canada a metric heim should be reasonably easy to come by.

Alternatively the vendors also sell a bling version of the trunion bearing, here is PIM's version and it costs $85. Shop around to see what each vendors offers, they all differ a little in design and price.

Did you get one of Larry Stock's new catalog's on CD in the mail? It is pretty comprehensive and provides a good resource for looking up parts if nothing else. His website is pretty antiquated and doesn't really include aftermarket parts.

Pantera Performance sells a nice replacement. He'll convert your trunnion to a heim joint for a modest fee.

Yes, Dennis does the conversion and machines down your shift rod to fit a 5/8" SAE rod end, supposedly due to metric size availability in the US. I find it somewhat misguided as metric rod ends are available in the US from Aurora Bearings!

The Canucks should have even easier access to metric joints.
