My shift lever is vague in the neutral position. It goes through the gears ok but does not "snap" to the center properly. I have taken apart all the linkage outside of the ZF and lubed and adjusted it. Still the same. A few years ago on another Pantera I had the ZF apart to replace some bad rear bearings so I'm familiar with the insides. Does anyone have any obvious ideas? I beleive there is two springs on the horizontal input shift rod that moves with the shift lever Is this shaft supposed to return to center?

Steve,

There's a mod where people take out the centering spring for the gear shift lever, so maybe a previous owner has done that mod.

I did that modification and its highly recommended by me. also sprayed some lube in the remaining hole and car shifts much nicer.
