Well I need a sounding board so here goes;
#9178 has had shifting problems that show up worse under heavy load and when hot (Vegas track event was worst). The ZF was fresh rebuilt and I have 0.040" clearance between flywheel and friction disc on depressing the clutch cold, I suspect a lot less hot. I have exhausted all the options for adjutments etc. and so I took a fresh approach with a pad and a calculator.
I have a 3/4" bore CNC polished clutch master cylinder and Dennis Quella's long throw 7/8" bore slave. With a 1.25" stroke on both the MC and the slave I calculate that the slave is only 73% of its potential stroke when the clutch is fully depressed! Ah, could I finally be getting somewhere Is it common for the MC to have smaller bore than the slave?
Larry Stock supplies an original style clutch master cylinder that has a 1" bore, which will provide 130% of the required fluid volume for full stroke of the slave. My worry with that is the slave does not have an internal stop, so I will need to adjust the master/clutch pedal to give maximum 1" stroke to prevent 'popping out' the slave cylinder. Do any of the vendors do a 7/8" bore CNC?
Does this all make sense to anyone else or am I alone in my own little World
