One side of the car is lower and the shock is not leaking. How can you tell when its time to replace the shocks and springs? Anyone have a clue who sells replacement parts that dont cost a million $$.. Whats the deal with such expensive parts? How can I tell if its just the shocks or just the springs. Can they be load tested?

Get straight! The SPRINGS hold the car up! The SHOCKS keep the car from "bouncing" on the springs "FOREVER"! Remember when they use to call them shock "ABSORBERS" If you have one side lower than the other, what may be wrong is: Tired or bent spring(s). Bent or out of position spring mount and/or "A" arm. Bent chassis. The shock would come into effect if it were frozen or if the shaft were bent. Have you checked the tire pressures? How far off is the error? Checking the actual angles of the "A" arms both front and rear, may provide a clue. As far as costs, there are lots of shops out there that sell coil/over springs (and shocks)! Do your homework, Know your specifications, and then shop around!! All the best, Marlin.
Are your shocks adjustable? Some are.Measure your spring height. If one is worn out replace both as a matching pair.Stock springs are 4.5" in diameter. Most aftermarket shocks and springs are 2.5" in diameter. One other thing you want to check are the shock bushings. If they are destroyed the car can drop on that side.I got some stock springs from Hall a couple of years ago for a good price.
Its not the Pantera parts vendors, its the cost of the units from the mfgrs. Take a look at ALL spring-shocks sometime, maybe in a Summit hot-rod catalogue. There are few-to-none in that catalogue that actually fit a Pantera, incidently. Penske makes a double-adjustable shock thats wonderful, I understand. They run around $600 each....
