AZ Events - Upcoming Event: Southern AZ Panteras - Tucson Photo Shoot at Pima Air Museum - 18 July 2015
This event is being coordinated by the Fun Italian Automobiles of Tucson (FIAT Club). The Southern AZ Panteras have a great synergy with this group - and they have shown to be able to bring out "the real deal" - Ferraris, Lambos, Alfas, Fiats, and a Maserati or two!
Mark your calendars and reserve the early morning of Saturday 18 July 2015 for a rare and unique opportunity to photograph your Italian car up close and personal with historic and rare aircraft at the Pima Air & Space Museum!
Link to Pima Air Museum Web Site
We are being granted special access with our Italian cars to the outdoor display grounds of the museum before the museum opens. We'll have morning light and (hopefully) cool temps. You will get to position your car very near most, if not all, of the aircraft on display and take as many pictures as you desire.
We will get everyone together for a group photo, too!
Since the FIAT club does not collect any dues, this is a pay-as-you-go event There is a $20 fee for each car going into the display area and the fee covers only this particular event.
All fees collected go to the museum's general fund. Per the museum - the fee is non-negotiable and applies regardless if you are a museum member or not. There are no discounts or "free" entries - no exceptions.
If you are planning on participating in this event, please coordinate either via email, PM, or post up on this thread by 6:00PM on 11 July 2015.
RSVP for this event is mandatory!
Date: Saturday 18 July 2015
Time: 7:00AM - 8:45AM (plan to be at the museum by 6:45AM)
Fee: $20 non-negotiable (fee goes to the museum).
In case of rain: If it is muddy and/or raining, the event will be rescheduled for Saturday 25 July 2015.
Remember to RSVP!!!
there better be a LOT of photos online for this!
I wonder what plane will be the ultimate back drop! (the SR71?)

MAYBE......... But that one is inside the museum.
I am not sure they will let us in to do "Piney-Like" Burnouts inside the main hangar!
(See the Tire-Break-In thread)
We have a professional photographer that is coming to the event that wants to shoot the cars.
http://www.threshold-photograp...session-information/
OK, I know she mostly does babies, but her husband is a real car nut, and she has done awesome work with my car.
So this is an added bonus - she will shoot your car for free, and then you can work out image processing, prints, etc. with her after the event.
She has very high-quality equipment and can do the post process work to really show off your ride.
Here is one she did for me.....

Great Run - Here's just a taste of the photos to be shared in another thread - Watch this space for updates....
We had a really good turnout of Panteras (3 from Phoenix, and one from San Diego).
Dick & Gina (Pantera)
Bill W. (Pantera)
Chuck (Pantera)
Steve (Alfa Spider)
John & Kathy (Pantera)
Gil (Pantera)
Dave (Fiat Spider)
PS> Just a bit of info about this B-52 - that's the NASA B-52 that dropped the X-15 Rocket Plane (99 Missions). You can see the pylon that carried the X-15, and the art on the side tells you about the missions (powered flights, glide missions, captive carriage, etc.).

It says: "My child is an Honor Student at Agua Caliente Elementary School"
My kid graduated from there about two years ago, but the bumper sticker (when it is attached to a Pantera) cracks me up, so I leave it on!
Thanks for the compliments!

Panteras at Pima Air Museum!!
Date has been updated - Saturday, 22 August at 0700!
Please plan to join us for Breakfast, and then a run to cool Sierra Vista, and a private tour of the Fort Huachuca Military Museum!
The basic game plan is to meet at the Vail Steak House for a delicious breakfast at 0700 AM. Once we have eaten, we will proceed to Fort Huachuca for a tour of the Fort Huachuca Military History, and the Military intelligence Museums. Maybe they will let me cypher a message on their Enigma Machine!

Southern AZ Panteras / FIAT Club Event - Mammoth / Oracle Run.... (12 September, 2015)
The Southern AZ Pantera Club, and the “Fun Italian Automobiles of Tucson” (FIAT) Club hope you can join us on our September run to Mammoth / Oracle Run.... (12 September, 2015).
We plan to meet at "Cars and Coffee" at La Encantada, in Tucson, starting about 0700 AM. We hope to have an "Italian Corral". Try and park on the east end of the parking area when you arrive.
2805 E Skyline Dr.
Tucson, Arizona
Cars and Coffee Facebook Site
Our plan is that the Pantera Club and the FIAT Club (and those exclusive guests also invited to participate) will get their briefing instructions, and we will pull out as a group at 0830, like we did on the Mt. Lemmon Trip.
We also plan a “meet-up” near the main lobby of the Tucson Hilton El Conquistador between 0900 – 0915. We can join anyone from the West Side who can't meet us at Cars and Coffee.
Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort:
10000 North Oracle Road
Tucson, AZ
Then we will sashay up Mammoth the goal is to get into the twisties between Oracle and Mammoth. We are going to stop in Mammoth and look for an appealing restaurant, but if we come up short, our back-up plan is to return to Oracle, and eat Pizza at Nona Maria’s - Here''s a Link to Nona Maria's.
Then on the way back, we may cut across on Tangerine to I-10, whatever is most convenient for the participants.
Then just blast home.
We hope you can join us! Please RSVP!

We had a great time (although the group was a little scattered) at the Tucson Classics show.
I am hoping for some more (super-duper) pictures.
We had a bunch of Southern AZ Pantera Club (POCA) members, and I saw a few of the FIAT club guys.
The morning rain affected the event, and the field was only about 2/3 full, but I got to see what I wanted to see, which were the Gulf-Mirage cars.
I'll post up a picture to whet your appetite, and here's a link to the event pictures, where I hope to get some more photos soon.

Mark your calendars for our southern Arizona wine country cruise to be held on Saturday 21 November 2015.
This year's theme is El Tour de Wine Country in honor of the El Tour de Tucson bicycle event being held the same day in the Tucson metro area - all the more reason to get out of town and go for a drive in southern Arizona's wine country!
Final touches on the plans are still being made but we wanted to get this notice to you as soon as possible now that we have targeted a date.
Here's the outline of the event so far:
We'll meet up at Vail Steakhouse for breakfast / coffee with a rendezvous at the Sonoita gas station to meet-up with members from Sierra Vista and Nogales.
Via a zig-zag drive through southern Arizona wine country, we will be visiting 3 wineries in Sonoita / Elgin
Bring your own picnic lunch. You do not have to partake in the wine tasting if you don't want to.
Just come out, even if your car isn't.... We just want to see YOU! We can still TALK about how awesome our cars are!
Plan on the event taking most of the mid-morning to late-afternoon hours. We will try to wrap things up in time for everyone to be home before sundown.
Spouses / significant others and guests by special invitation are most welcome!
This is a pay-as-you-go event.
If we get rained out, we have selected Sunday 22 November as an alternative date.
Top Tip: Bring your own glass and you'll save on the cost of the wine tastings!
This is our Third Year: This is a great run, and we always have an awesome time. This is the best time to be in Southern AZ.
An update to this information with the meet-up times and planned route will be coming out on or before 31 October 2015.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to either Chuck (chuck@chuckhuber.com) or Dave (agavefactor@gmail.com) no later than 14 November 2015 so that we can plan accordingly.
If you have any suggestions or questions please let us know.
Ciao!

The Southern AZ Panteras, and their sister club the Fun Italian Automobiles of Tucson (FIAT Club) had our final event for 2015 - lunch, and our planning session for 2016.
The Southern AZ Panteras had a good turnout, with 4 sets of owners (only one car, unfortunately). We had:
Ken and Rosalie - '72 Pre-L (Resto recently completed)
Jim and Jacki (Pantera owners - Car is 100%)
Chuck (Pantera owner - car is down for repair)
Dave G. (Pantera owner - Major performance upgrade in work)
All of the Pantera owners are long-time POCA members.
Jim and Jacki won the "longest drive" award with the 70 mile trip from Willcox.
We all were thrilled to see Ken and Rosalie's Pantera back on the streets after a long restoration and paint! The car looks great.
Chuck and Dave G. are both expending renewed energies to get our Panteras running again. You should see us back on the roads shortly.
The FIAT club was represented by the president who drove his Fiat Spider 2000, and their most loyal member Stephen, who brought his electric powered motorcycle, instead of his Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce.
Dave (Fiat owner)
Stephen (Alfa owner)
The motorcycle was pretty neat, consisting basically of a relatively large battery, and an electric motor, operating a belt drive system to the rear wheel. According to Stephen, it is quite the performer.
We spent an enjoyable 2 hours talking about how great our cars are, and how much fun we had during our 2015 adventures.
Watch a space like this for more exciting adventures and destinations in 2016. We hope Pantera members in the Southern Arizona area can join us next year! We have big plans!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
