Personally I would not trust a 30 year old space saver as a device to rely on as a spare, more to complete a concours restoration.

These are getting rare and reported to be selling in the +$500 region, so this is a great opportunity to get one real cheap if you are missing yours and looking to have the car complete.

Original BFG collapsible spares from 1971 were the subject of a U.S. DOT recall for sidewall cracking in the folded areas. The replacement tires were of somewhat different appearance and construction but at best they are still 40 years old! If you want it as a display part, fine. If you want it to actually use, I'd go to a junkyard and find a newer tire of the correct size and have it mounted on the 14x 6" Ford steel rim originally used.

Yes- if the tire guy knows what he's doing, a collapsible spare CAN be dismounted and remounted without damage. But its not a case of throwing the thing on an automatic tire machine and drinking coffee while the machine does all the work.
