In the US the spare tire mounted in the rear trunk tub, there's even a circular notch in the tub to locate the tire. The circular notch is rather small in diameter because the spare tire was a BF Goodrich inflatable spare.

Everywhere else in the world the spare tire was located in the front boot.

During frontal crash testing performed by the US DOT, the front hood (bonnet) popped open & the spare tire flew out and through the windshield into the passenger compartment. So the DOT insisted the tire had to be relocated.

You can only put the BFG spare up front if it is on the 14 inch rim. I have one from a Mustang on a 15 inch rim and it will not fit the front. A friend has the original 14 inch and it fits in the front. Mine barely fits the larger part of the back opening. Of course most of the time I dont carry a spare since the size is wrong, you need to inflate it, and it is so old and cracked, it would probably not last a mile. I have used it one time in 19 years. The first year I owned the car.
Ron, are you worried about historical accuracy or getting by if you get a flat? My new RX-8 didn't come with a spare, just a can of tire inflate/seal and a small compressor. In my Pantera all I carry is 2 cans of the inflate/seal stuff. No spare is going to match the front AND rear rolling diameters and you can (I read) destroy a ZF in short order if the rear tires are miss-matched diameters and you drive for more than a few miles. Plus, the cans take up a lot less space, are cheaper and weigh a lot less. Mind you, I’ve never actually had to use them... Hmmm. Confused

I have to look for that anchor point ?? Mine is a 79 EURO GTS .. maybe the spare went in the front ??? the battery is submerged below the front trunk floor so it would fit ???

Ron

On US cars there is a hex nut that is fiberglassed into the tub for the retaining bolt.
I'm not sure that you can get the jack under the car with a flat. The chassis pretty much sits on the ground.
'Better off using a chase plane with a pit crew.
Maybe a chopper with a skyhook to lift it off the ground?
