spring spacers again

I could just push the shock in and reinstall, but when I did this to my car I had to recompress the springs..

Do you have the springs swapped on the shocks? Can not be right as you say.

I have Konis and a set of new ford era shocks too, all are the same length 701 if front and 702 in rear. I had to compress them to get them off. Maybe I need a spring stre-t-c--her?

I have another set of springs and when I compare them the spare set is a little longer and the spring metal is thinner. They will work, just cant figure how these were working...HEY, how about they are so old that they are shorter from the weight of the car and did not expand enough to take the place of the spacer?

I havea set of 74 springs and the fronts measure 12 7/8 inches. Fronts should be smaller guage than rears, rears are heavier, but they appear to be the same lengthope that helps!

Also, I noticed that the tops of your springs are different from mine. Maybe yours are cut down? I know mine were stock. Here a pic for clarification.

Thanks, I have another set like yours and they will work. The ones I removed and painted red are only 10 inches. Im thinking I can just push the shock in to the keepers. When the weight of the car is pushing down on the spring, the keepers can't come out, and with a 10 inch spring it will be "slammed"

But what happens when the car becomes un-weighted like going over something. I don't think the keepers would come out but it may happen in a rare event.

I donno Scott.. Im still on the fence here. They were in the car with those springs when it came in. I got an email from Jack Bosswrench, he sugessted I install one spacer to make the spring snug. It should still be slammed low but not rattle. Thats the plan now! Thanks Bill 1362

I bet it will be fine. Should looks like someone put in shorter springs...

Bosswrench says they are very short,add 1 spacer to hold keepers in. It still should be very low..
