Starter Interlock wiring

Just to be clear, are you referring to the starter interlock OVERRIDE switch in the front trunk?

Is the Red/Black wire on a terminal by itself?

And the other two terminals on the override switch have a jumper wire connecting them together?

If so, then someone has disabled the override switch by placing a jumper across the two terminals that should have only one (Red) wire per terminal.

The splice that you are seeking was most likely done inside the wire loom, usually not too far from where the wire exits the wire loom.

Sometimes you can find the splice by carefully examining the wire loom for a bulge or a "sudden" small reduction in the loom's diameter. While the pic below is not of the starter interlock circuit, it is typical of the wiring loom splices. Generally, you will find one wire loom splitting into two (or more) wire looms, with sleeves for each wire bundle. The point where the sleeves butt will be wrapped with electrical tape.

In the pic below, notice that there are two sleeves at the top, and one at the bottom (the bottom one has been cut open. This juncture was wrapped with tape, and contains a wire splice.

After my post I figured it had to be what you described and it was. I'll post pictures later this evening. I found both factory splices. At least they were soldered!

This may help someone in the future that want to fully remove the starter interlock. These are soldered factor splices I found burried in the harness. Both were where the bundle was taped.

I spliced (crimped and soldered) then shrink wraped the red ignition switch wire to the red starter solenoid wire. Now I'll start on the rest of the wires.
