Some of you may remember my project 72 from the club magazine back in 2003-2004. The car is almost finished! I will list some of the changes but there are too many to cover in full. Here are a few of them:
1. 408W with 11:1 compression and fully forged internals. Over 500 bhp + 125 shot of ntrous.
2. Zf overhauled by Dennis Quella including internal safety wiring, top fill case modification, welded second gear, etc.
3. Uprights machined for tapered Timken roller bearings.
4. Solid billet stub axles.
5. Spicer half shafts
6. Updated wiring with new relays, fuse blocks, etc.
Oh well basically everything inculding suspension, steering, brakes, cooling, etc all modified.
7. Paint completed in June 2010. The first show for it is July 11! WOO HOO! I can't even sleep I am so excited!
Thanks again guys for all the help and support over the past seven years! Time to sit back and enjoy it a bit now. Smiler

What's involved with a "welded 2nd gear"?

The synchro cone and the gear are two pieces that are pressed/splined together.
Dennis removes the synchro cone and has a new one laser welded on in it's place. Alot of the time the grooves on the synchro cone wear down and the synchro ring has nothing to grip onto. I have had Dennis do this to a number of gears and have had nothing but great results.

Thanks guys! This show is all people's choice so we will see what happens... I am just happy to be going. The only thing I have left to work on is the interior a bit. It looks great as is but I want to do a bit more with it. The budget says next year on that one. I am still putting all the parts back on the car but will take more pictures soon. Once again, I appreciate all the help and support you guys! What a great group of people.
The Pantera did not do anything as far as awards go at the popular vote car show. What it did do was draw a huge crowd all day. It also allowed me to talk about what it is and a little about the history of the cars. Yahoo! I love doing that. Anyway, There were over 1,000 cars at that show and some national award winners did nothing so I wasn't concerned. I didn't expect anything.
Saturday, I took it to a judged show for the first time. I knew I wasn't finished with the interior yet but I was having fun. Once again a big crowd and a lot of talking Detomaso. At the end of the day, I was a bit exhausted but was also extremely surprised and happy. The Pantera did very well! It won "Most Exotic car", "Best Custom Car", "Best Car" and "Best in Show"!! What a great day!

Thanks guys! It is fun to see the reaction people have when you explain what the car is and a little about the company history. I wonder how many go home to do some internet searching on them.
I am trying get some friends together for a photoshoot with a few cars. I also need some better pictures.
Needless to say the day was a bit overwhelming. I do have to tell you guys about the grand prize that went with the "Best in Show"... It is a 1/2 day program at Pikes Peak International Raceway in a Formula 2000 open wheel car! I can't wait for that!
