stone gard for front fenders

Has anyone installed some kind of material to the under side of the front fenders to prevent stones from creating stars in the paint. If so what is the material that you used and how did you fasten it to the fender.

Pantera parts connection in Reno NV has a kit using some type of plastic materal. I have not seen one upclose so I cannot help on the details. Larry Stock developed this for his open road racing car after getting pitted.

A nice sheet of ABS plastic (like what bumpers are made of) glued to the underside of the fender might be all it takes.
