As a new owner of my first Pantera, I have been getting familier with different elements of the car. One day recently, I wanted to check if the brake lights were working correctly. I positioned a rod between the seat and the brake pedal, depressing the pedal to see if the stop lamps were on. They were not! Hmmmmm I fix the rod so it was pushing even harder against the brake pedal, no stop lamps. I got out my test light to check power at the brake pressure stop lamp switch, there was power....I went to the other prong with the test lamp, then went and stepped on the pedal, the test lamp lit. The brake pressure switch was working...but only after a fair amount of foot pressure was on the pedal. This is unacceptical...I could be slowing down with no brake lights on, and have someone behind me (not paying attention) run into the car. I want the stop lamps on AS SOON AS that brake pedal starts to move. So I made a small bracket to hold a standard plunger type brake switch, positioned against the brake lever, and ran the brake wires into the car to the switch. Now it works the way it should, giving the driver behind me plenty of warning this car is about to slow down. I am sure many of you have done this conversion, and some of you Pantera owners should check yours. As my dear old departed father use to say.." Safety first, safety last, if you don't like safety...you can kiss my....." He never said the last word....and we would all laugh.
