I have called every major pantera vendor as to why the pantera clutch slave cylinder for the pantera is 3-4 times that of an ATE or Alfa spider slave cyl. i see limited inforation that yes indeed they do crossreference and interchange but the vendors just seem to play "dumb" for lack of a better word. If another part works just as well for $0 to $50 I dont see why I should pay a premium for a pantera part from a pantera supplier if something else works. I do care about my transaxle but as this is the first replacement item i have needed to purchase, naturally I am going to question the price. The part did nto come from detomaso i dont see an isis on y slave so it stands to reason these parts are probalby being marked up quite a bit. I have recived mixed reviews on the longthrow and its necessity with a dash one trans. BTW here is my car, thanks
Ryan

I consider myself a pretty good parts changer. However during my work on my Pantera I did have questions and they were happily answered by the vendors I bought the parts from. If you think that same support will be given by seller of the ATE or Alfa spider slave I'd say buy one.
But don't expect advice from a Pantera vendor if have trouble with the install or part.

I haven't changed mine yet, in fact its one of the only mechanical parts that I didn't change after the car had been sitting since 1984 so I don't have any helpful information other than I have a stock short throw and it works fine.

Nice car by the way!
Ryan,
Your car looks like a twin to mine. Even down to the hood vents and "classic" Ford mirrors.

As to your clutch slave , I recently went through this same issue. I purchased and subsequently returned an Alfa clutch slave. Upon inspection of the cylinder body it was over an inch shorter than the original. I ended up re building my original for about $15.00 and it works fine.

Later I will probably purchase one of the stainless cylinders from Pantera East which are known to fit and are of excellent quality.
Good luck.
