Correct, Steve was the vendor that did these. Years ago. He is sadly of no real help in dialing them in at this time; just too long ago. They had bearing problems, almost universally. The Webers were problematic, but Weber style EFI throttle bodies took care of that issue. There is now NO factory support for that style Magnachargers, so if you find a setup, and the rotors are shot or a bad case, I hope you have a VERY good welder/fabricator and LOTS of $$$.

Even when well set up and running good, the horsepower was not what one would have expected of the setup.

Ah, but the BLING was great!

The whine of the straight cut gears in the super charger is intoxicating, isn't it Brad?

Superchargers are not direct driven, they always have gears in them. If the gears are straight cut, they whine. If the gears are bevel cut, they're quieter.

You can replicate that sound with a cam drive using straight cut gears.

While the sound is fun to listen to in someone else's car, it is a major discomfort in any car used to drive any distance.

I've seen the B&M blower set up (for the Cleveland) used in Panteras, but that set up is no longer available. I've only seen one for sale recently, and it was not complete. If B&M does not suport that set up with parts, it would be impossible to rebuild, like the Magna-Chargers.

Brad, you have a PI Motorsports hammer motor, which is a windsor. Things are not so dismal for a Windsor motor, lots of supercharging opportunities exist. Go to the Kenne Bell web site and check it out.

Sean Hyland sells blown 4.6 liter modular motors in the crate. You could drop one of those in!

A bit of history: the Magnecharger was originally designed for mid-80s Corvettes with a very low hood. Wilkinson was smart enough to recognize that the blowers could be put onto a Cleveland facing backwards, driven by a Mangusta-style jackshaft. So there are three gilmer belts involved in the drive and alignment of everything is critical; apparently what happens is, the power required to turn all the impellers, belts & shafting distorts the castings holding the drives which then starts throwing belts- which you won't find at Pep Boyz! The little twin blowers only put out 6-7 psi into a 351-sized engine and the assembly weighs 80 lbs with two 50DCOE Webers mounted. IMHO, there are more modern blowers that put out more pressure, can use EFI and are lighter with single-belt drives. Jerry Magnesen sold the rights to B&M who then decided it was impossible to mfgr so they scrapped it. Magnesen now sells modern Eaton blowers for Fords. Parts are essentially non-existent for the old units but they do look trick. One of the most successful Pantera set-ups discarded the Webers & used two 454 Chev throttle bodies which don't care if they're right side up or sideways. He got around 40,000 miles out of the rig, then pitched it all and put in a 514 big block- unblown. Less complicated, runs better, more power with better fuel mileage from an 850 Holley.
