Stock tach in my '72 has always worked perfectly. Today, after a show, I turned the key to the 'on' position, and the Tach pegs. There are 2 conditions that may have caused the problem, 1) car sat in the sun all day, the interior of the car was really, really hot (slightly cooler than the temperature of the sun (LOL), could that have fried the tach? 2) This past week I replaced the plugs, plug wires, points, distributor cap, etc. I had the bulkhead removed and also replaced the thermostat, had to remove the coolant tube, etc. I mention that because obviously I touched alot of stuff. Also was on the negative side of the coil (to attached dwell meter). The tach worked perfectly this morning, everything else works.. Looks like the tach is fed from the negative side of the coil, wondering if a points issue, etc.
Suggestions?
As always, thanks
