My tach reads roughly twice what it should,,,
Is there a switch somewhere for 4, 6, 8 cylinder?
Does it likely need a repair of some sort?

There is no switch, but there is a potentiometer on the simple circuit board inside the case that is used for calibration.
You can try to connect a set of jumpers to the connector and use another reference source to match the reading, or just take it to a tach shop that can calibrate it for you.

Is your ignition system stock, or has it been upgraded with an electronic ignition and/or ignition controller box like an MSD 6AL?
If stock, check the appropriate wiring diagram on Pantera Place to verify your tack is connected correctly.
