Has anyone tried adapting an italian water temp sender (e.g. fiat, alfa romeo) to work with the stock gauge?

Your Sept. POCA newsletter has the sending unit and gauge electrical parameters as listed by one of our Swedish members. Among other things, he found that VDO senders don't work, and I once tried a FIAT sender which also doesn't work. Some senders that don't work will hard-ground the gauge enough to bend the needle so only try this with a light touch of the wires, not by bolting it in & turning on the key!
