This last weekend I solved the overheating problem I had been having and I want to thank everyone for all their halp and suggestions.
At first I thought it was because of a fan not working. It turned out the fan would work when you first tsarted the car, but after it warmed up it would quit working. Not exactly what you want. SO I switched fans and now the fan works all the time but it was still over heating. So I tightened the radiator hoses. Still over heated. Checked the water pump, it was working fine. Then after looking at a picture form this sight I realised that the expansion tank on my car wasn't sitting as high as it used to. I checked it out and sure enough it had slipped down a half a foot or so. So I put it back where it usedto be, and viola, overheating problem dissapeared. It had slipped down so slowly over the years I never noticed it. So I found out yet another valuable piece of info. Parts need to be mouneted where they are supposed to be.
Thanks again everyone.

In my car I went to the stainless pipes with Aeroquip hose connectors.
My expansion tank is held firmly in place by the rigid pipe from the thermostat.
It can't slip down.
I would say that the clamp helps also. Especially if it is tight.
If it is possible to be to low and I guess DT found a way to do that, the fluid level in the system can drop too low also.
That can't be good.
Yep, I think for some reason if it is sitting too low it won't allow water to go back in to the fill tank or something. All I know for sure is it fixed it by putting it back where it belongs. Maybe someone could explain how it works?? Dan Jones maybe?? He knows everything about stuff like this.
