Well, as alluded to in a couple previous posts I have taken a step toward the 'dark side' and added chebbie power to the collection. It is on it's way from the East coast....

427CI all aluminum, AFI heads, custom Kinsler EFI with 600HP and 590 ft/lbs torque.....Here's a bit of a sneek teaser

Sounds perfect for the track event in Reno at next years Pantera Fun Rally
Yeah, the RFR track is soooo much fun...I was going to enter the GTP-S class next year with the rebuilt '74....just to be in keeping and not embarrass the P-car guys getting beat by a chebbie. But I guess if the Rally is close to home I can run the chebbie in Group B for fun, heck maybe I'll even run the GT40 in Class C just to maximize my track time.

Love that air cleaner! I think something similar would sit well under the Pantera engine screen. Any idea where it's from or who the manufacturer is?

All the build paperwork is coming with the car, so I'll see what I can find out. I know TWM does a similar unit for their throttle bodies. I bet a look through the K&N catalog would find you the filter and then maybe build a custom airbox for carb.

Julian - that is just over the top! Great looking motor that undoubtedly sounds and performs even better. Is that INSTALLED in your car now?

It's installed in the latest addition, on it's way.... not a Pantera, that would be WAAAY too much a move toward the 'dark side'. I do have some values and principles... Wink

I am a fan of the Mk IV big block (rat motor), its a decent motor. The mouse motor is another story however.

This is all new to me... what's this talk of 'rats and mice', they're all vermin in my book. All I know is this little chebbie motor powers this thing to some pretty damned respectable 0-60 times.

It's mid engined and it ain't street legal and you ain't right!

Mid Engine - applause (although the headers make that an easy guess)
Ain't Street Legal - Red Face Afraid it is and it does 0-60 in sub 3 secs

Ack!

That wouldn't have anything to do with the fact tjat the Cleveland heads are an almost exact copy of the Mk IV open chamber rat heads now would it?

Yes, G50 Porsche box.

You might as well dump the GT40 now. What the heck do you need it for with that? Wow. Very nice! Congratulations!

I do like to have a choice, the two are very different cars. The GT40 is an icon (even if surprisingly few Americans recognize it!) from an era of racing that evokes true grit & determination. I still love the lines, even if it is a bitch of a car for a 6' guy to drive.....but I'm going to try and correct some of that this winter. The Ultima is all about pure functionality and driving.

Besides if and when I move back to Canada the GT40 is eligible (15 year rule) to go cross border, the Ultima on the other hand will have to wait another 11 years or be a 'race only' import. Yes, there are Ultima's in Canada....so I'm looking for loopholes, but Transport Canada have import rules tied up tighter than a duck's a**hole.
