Just in case someone is thinking about it, I advise against modifying the Pantera shift-stick in any way- such as shortening or changing threads. One GT5-S owner broke his shift knob off and when he went to weld the threads back on, he found the thick stick was made up of 5 or 6 layers of thin steel welded only along the edges, then chrome plated. An application of weld heat caused the thin layers to fan out, breaking the edge-welds and cracking the plating. They may not all be made this way but it'll be really hard to tell without risk of destruction.
