Hello.
I discovered that my transaxle mounts was different, and I have had a hard time to get the engine and transaxle to fit in the car.
I think one of the mounts must be wrong for my car. There is approximately 3/8" difference in the lenght of the two mounts.
If someone have a spare mount like the one that is intalled on the transaxle, I would be interested.

Check your motor mounts first. I had a problem the very first time I've tried re-installing my engine and found I had the motor mounts backwards which pushed the whole engine/trans assembly about an inch. At first I thought it was my trans mounts as I could almost clear the tabs if I removed the shims but it would not go in.

Good luck
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have got the engine mounts right.
I can manage to get everything installed, but the trans mounts would be located one to the front and one to the rear.
In the pickture I have installed both engine mounts and the right trans mount is in place almost sentered in the tabs. If the last trans mount have been like the other it would have gone right in. Is the trans mounts suposed to be different?
I made some dotted lines on the mounts in the pickture to showe the difference.
I suspect one mount have been replaced as the car had an accident 20 years ago.
You will have to open the mounting tab. By that I mean you will have to bent it to slide the mount in then use the shims, those large spacers to take up the space. You could also loosen the motor mount bolts, the single bolts connecting the upper and lower mounts with the rubber isolator in-betwwen, to shift the motor/trans assembly the 3/8th inch you need.
It must have been a pretty sever impact that they had to replace the trans mount. They would have had to replace the rear frame members in the impact area.
I understand what you say, but I do not want to bend anything, or shift the position of the assembly. If it is so that I got the wrong mounts.
I want everything to be and look straight, not just get the thing in there. (I can do that)
So refering to the pickture again, my question is:
Should the left transaxle mount be different than the right?
Great.
I really do not know why I have two different styles, but it would fit alot better with two equal ones like you have Smiler
I guess I can use both styles as long as I have two.
I am going to make new engine mounts because I am installing a new Dry sump engine, and the pump interfere with the right mount. Thats why I am so focused on having everything as straight and level as possible before making the new engine mounts.
