The Southern AZ Pantera Club (POCA) attended the Tucson Classics car show at the Gregory School in Tucson on 17 October.

There were two members displaying their cars, a spectacular Qvale Mangusta (Dale Gumm) and a '74 L model (Jack and Ruth Mahoney). Steve Ram came up from Nogales, and Stephen Schaefer (Alfa Romeo Owner) were spotted at the show.

We had hoped for a few other P-cars from either Tucson, or Phoenix, but these members were unable to attend.

The highlight of the show was a display of classic LeMans racers that were campaigned under the JWAE (John Wyer Automotive Engineering) banner - sponsored by Gulf Oil.

There were four of these historic cars that were bloodied on the storied streets of the Mulsanne - one of them continues to race to this day in the LeMans classic.

The display was arranged and coordinated by the Southern AZ Pantera Club's great friend, John Horsman. John gave a detailed description of the history of each of the four cars. It was fascinating.

Two of the cars were from Indianapolis, IN, and two were from Harley Cluxton's Grand Touring Cars, in Scottsdale, AZ. These were SUPER machines, all painted in the authentic Gulf livery.

Really a neat experience. Enjoy the pictures.

Well, you probably already know this, but Kjell Qvale was one of the major original importer of the original DeTomaso Mangusta.

He was working with Alejandro at the end of career to develop and import the second generation Mangusta.

I agree it doesn't exactly align with the progression of the original Mangusta -> Pantera lineage, but you have to give the guys credit for trying!
