An ‘all out’ 3000 mile street race for $2M

Brussels/Hong Kong – The world’s most notorious computer hacker turned Euro-business mogul is holding the first exotic car street race of its kind. Unlike Cannonball Run, Gumball 3000, and Players Run - The Ultimate Rally, of which half of the positions are already filled, will be less about glamour and all about a very competitive 3,000 mile race for a $2M grand prize. The race, which takes place in the summer of 06, will comprise of 100 cars racing for 5 days, followed by an extravagant 2 day party at the finish line.
Kim Schmitz, 30, who is famous in the hacker world as ‘Kimble’, created The Ultimate Rally after being unsatisfied with other exotic car rallies. He won the famous Gumball 3000 twice, but says it was missing a competitive element, “Only a few of the Gumballers actually competed. Most of them were there to show off in their hot cars,” Kim says. “Mine will be a 5 day adrenaline rush with 100 very competitive drivers in extremely fast, well equipped cars, racing to win the $2M trophy.”
Early entries show that the competition is fierce. There will be custom 1000hp exotic cars with special suspension, oversized gas tanks, and the latest navigation equipment. “It will be like Paris Dakar or Baja 1000, only on pavement, with 5 times more money on the table than a NASCAR race,” Kim says. “Nobody will top this. It will go down in history.” So much does he believe this that Kim has partnered with a Hollywood producer to turn the event into a movie. ”We will have helicopters, filming vehicles, and every car will be equipped with 3 cameras,” Kim says.
The entry fee for the race is a mere $30,000, which includes a list of services, including transporting each vehicle from its home location to the starting point of the race. The race location won’t be announced until just before the race begins, but the seven potential routes around the world are sure to cause a local stir. “We’re considering everything from a South American run to a Beijing – Moscow trip through 6 time zones,” Kim says. “And I currently have teams scouting out the 7 potential routes.”
Kim’s wealth, style and connections to fame in several countries ensure that the downtime between posts will be highly entertaining, and the two days after the race will be one of the most exuberant parties ever hosted.
