Unknown Wires...

That looks to me like someone has used speaker wire to tap into an un-switched hot lead; probably to run power to something like a radar detector. I'd get rid of it and repair the wire it's tapped into.

Ditto. I don't know of any original wiring that used two wires molded together, although its odd that both are brown. I have seen extention cord wiring with similar markings. On the picture, where the arrow is located, are the wires actually in the wire bundle? If not, that's a definite sign they probably aren't original. Not to mention it appears they aren't copper.

Nope ... that pair of wires is for the cockpit dome light. Just found the same wires on my car. Original routing is up the A pillar under the trim around the passenger door, across to the dome light. They appear to be original. Rod.

I first thought that the previous owner has tapped into something but when I tried to see where the wires go, they look like they are routed deep into that loom too. If they are for the dome light, would shutting the doors turn that "hot" lead off?

The dome light is fed B+ (12v) constantly, so closing the doors won't shut it off.

The bulb illuminates when the ground path is completed either through the door switches (to body ground) or the courtesy lamp switch (to the gauge grounds).
