I bought 2 identical sets of valve covers. The ones with the crinkled black paint and DeTomaso logo embossed on the top. Both sets fit on one of my Panteras. The other Pantera has holes that don`t match up with any of the valve covers.It originally came with the chrome covers. Both are `72 cars. I`m baffled. Any ideas?

Sounds like one of your cars does NOT have a 351-C; possibly it has a retrofitted 351-W which uses entirely different cylinder heads. Some later wide-body Panteras got 351-W engines from DeTomaso after 1985, but not in 1972. Are both sets of rocker covers identical in terms of bolt holes? A photo of a head, or the front of the engine will solve that one.

The small block Ford (302), the 351 Windsor, and the 351 Cleveland engines can
be easily differentiated by the shape of the rear of the intake manifold.
Which just so happens to be the easiest part of the engine to view in a Pantera.

351 Windsor = 6 bolts
351 Cleveland = 8 bolts.
