I'm switiching from cast iron heads to CHI 4V's, can I just switch out current valve springs into the CHI heads? If not what dictates what springs I should purchase? I have cam details written down that came with the car, but when I look the part # up it shows a Chevy cam?

Am I gonna have to pull the camshaft to find out what it is? Vegas is fast approaching.....

Thanks in advance,

I'm far from an expert but logically I would think that the springs would work just fine.

When a cam manufacturer specs springs, he doesn't ask what type of heads you'll be mounting them in - he specs spring characteristics. Or said a different way, the springs are matched to the cam, not the heads, so I would think you'd be ok.

That being said, if the springs are old you may want to take advantage of the swap and install new springs. I've been stranded before by breaking valve springs...
