Try a phenolic carb spacer,if your machine doesn't have one. They come in various thicknesses and insulate the carb from the effects of heat-soak. Shutting down a hot engine actually increases the block temperature, since you don't have air going by the carb or water going to the rad. So fuel in the float-bowls starts boiling, which thoroughly floods the engine. If you're a poor boy, a home-made one of WOOD works just fine- 1/4" thick is about right. Note-this is more important than air cleaner clearance, if a spacer makes the engine too tall. Change everything else but keep the spacer!
