I was in Jack Roush's motorhome at the Talledega event yesterday, and one of his very closest, long-time friends mentioned a Mangusta he had owned a bunch of years. (Perhaps 20 or more.) Yesterday he told me he wanted to sell it. This is what I was TOLD about the car, have never seen it - -

Presumably the last of the 200 or so he said entered the U.S. It is Yellow/Black, engine was rebuilt about 8 years ago, but only used for break-in miles until the car went dormant, stored inside. Bumpers missing, gas tank empty (so probably rusted), dent in front hood. Represented as unrusty, but clearly in need.

He has a few other cars he's looking to sell (age and some arthritis issues) but he told me "around $25-30k" to buy it.

I don't know this market and haven't any interest in the car, only the messenger here.

IF ANY OF YOU are seriously interested in the car, I can find out more, or perhaps you can englighten me on what to look for, report upon, discern.

Given the circumstances, I'd rather find out ONCE than peck him relentlessly for one more thing, so please fire away or respond to me as you choose.

Thanks.

Hi all, had numerous requests, am officially 'out of the middle' on this one.

The owner is not in the digital age, to put it mildly. Thus, emailing photos is sadly out of the immediate question, but he can likely get bunches of pictures together, and have someone he knows send them out. Patience required. He's selling a couple of airplanes, a Viper, etc, etc, none financially motivated. "No time, no room, no interest" type thing.

Anyway, I have his cell phone which I promised not to post broadly, and have sent that to several of you in PMs. Check accordingly.

Sorry to say, two of you did NOT get the cell number due to what sounded TO ME like window shopping missions only. Nothing wrong with that - I do it daily - but for this gentleman, this situation, not within the rules. PM me if I misread your seriousness.

The car is in Florida, Tampa area. He's got a warehouse of stuff, so it must be near him. I'm out of town for couple days, won't be checking in 'til I return. Best wishes.

I guess I was one of the window shopper ?

Thanks Again !

Next time when you want a select group of buyers post it to the guys you select you want to buy it !

Ron

Uh Ron, first of all - I didn't set the "who" list; the "prospects" disqualified themselves by admitting they were really more curious than anything. The gentleman's sole request to me was to "lightly screen". I told the two the situation, they understood completely.

You never asked for the number. The only question you DID ask, "where" the car's located was duly answered in the next post.

Lastly, it'd be hard for me to "choose" who I want to buy it since I don't know everyone's situation (didn't renew my subscription to Miss Cleo.)

Whoever gets it, I hope you'll share the story.

I dont remember you stating you were giving out a cell # ... so be it ! Actually this may be the same guy I bought my Boss 302 from he was in TAMPA with a warehouse of cars.

For me all things always work out for the best .. Right Whoever gets it, I hope you'll share the story.

About 10 minutes after Adams posted the information on the car, I contacted the owner and agreed to buy the car. Shortly after, I visited him and inspected/paid for the car.

It is now on its way north where I plan a full restoration in the hopes of having another Mangusta out in public.

I will post more details when the car finally gets here, but wanted to save Adams from having to respond to more inquiries.

Thanks Mark, not a problem at all. I'm SO glad you, the car, and the owner met and all is well. I was actually encouraged by the amount of response, showing the Goose market to be healthier than I'd have suspected.

Can't wait to hear about your project, and we ALL want to see photos - before, during, and after.

Have fun with it and keep us posted. Interestingly, the same owner has a 97 Viper GTS, blue/white stripes with something less than 10k miles on it. I've got a GTS and it is a great car for the money. He says he may be selling that car, and if I find out more, I'll post on the Viper Club and here if anyone is interested.

Thanks again, Mark. Sounds like the fun's about to begin!
Mark,

Congratulations on your new car. I;m sure it ended up in great hands after seeing your whote car at Pocono CSD.

Oh by the way I seen some of the great pictures you took of your Canadian Group ... if you happened to take any nice pics of 9138 could you please foward them to me.

Again thanks and we had a great time.

Harry, come on up and I'll have THREE cold ones ready for you!

Ron, I'll be sorting through my photos over the next few nights and send what I have. It was a great weekend!
