I'm looking for a ZF transaxle for a GT40 that my son and I are building. We would consider any from 'needs to be rebuilt to totally rebuilt'. Also, it doesn't have to be configured for a GT40. Thanks for your consideration. Dennis

Found one!! Once again, this site has been a big help to me. Dennis
Congrats on finding a ZF. Curious who are you using to flip it for the 40? What 40 kit are you building?
I'm going to ask Ron McCall to do the conversion. RCR GT40 is what we're building. We visited RCR's facility in July and were given an extensive tour by Fran Hall. Very impressed with the quality and authenticity of their cars so we ordered their deluxe kit plus a few options. This will be my son's car, but I get to drive it too. Yeah!! We'll see how it stacks up against my Pantera.
Not sure how many boxed ZFs are still out there but that is one rare piece of kit. An absolute unicorn.
Thanks Percy. But I'm not buying the NOS one, I received a private message from another member with a lead on a used ZF and I was able to work out a deal on that one. Made more sense as it needs to be looked at anyway to do the conversion. As far as I know the NOS one might still be available.
Dennis - sounds great. Hope you plan a build thread on GT40s.com. Lee
You need to be careful with old, NOS ZF’s. If they weren’t stored properly, condensation can cause corrosion and rust on internal components such as bearings. Lloyd Butfoy told me he’s seen NOS ZF’s that were junk!
Lee, doing a thread sounds like an interesting idea. RCR is about 8 mos. out with their cars, so we won't be able to start the project until next March or April. Dennis
David, point well taken. I'm not buying the NOS, but one that's supposed to have been rebuilt, not sure how recently. I have no reason to believe otherwise, but I'm taking it to one of the best ZF technicians to do the conversion, so he will be able to fix any other issues. If no other issues, I will have gotten a good deal. We're driving from PA to MI this weekend to pick it up (18-20 hrs. round trip). Fingers crossed! Dennis
