Water pump

My recommendation is the Edelbrock pump #8844, a bit pricy, but the curved blade impellar will help the major problem with the Pantera cooling system, which is insufficient coolant flow.

The other "gotcha" is that by now most Pantera motors have had the wrong thermostat installed. The correct thermostat being a Robertshaw #333-180. They are available on-line from "Flow Kooler".

I agree with George on the Edelbrock pump. I installed one this spring and am very happy. Expensive? Well, mine cost me $215.00 CDN (about $180 US). I thought it was pretty much the cheapest waterpump ever installed in a 30+ year-old Italian exotic...

Or a modified Robert Shaw thermostat for more coolant flow. Easy to do at home. three 3/16" holes.

The Edelbrock pump appears to be a fantastic part, but in reading about the Flow Kooler pump, are the claims of 'doubling' the low speed water flow not favorably comparable with the Edelbrock?

Price is about half, but still a small price to pay for top quality on either pump. (I too come from the 'other' Italian makes, so am still pleasantly surprised.)

The Flow Kooler pump has an impellar that looks like an egg beater. Their literature claims to improve flow at low speeds, but they are silent about what happens to the pump curve at higher rpm. If there was something to brag about, I think they would, so their silence is a red flag to me. I wrote them several years ago and inquired about a copy of a full flow curve for their pump, they never responded.

I prefer the curved vane impellar of the Edelbrock pump.

I have the Flow kooler pump. I am not impressed. Just a regular stamped steel impeller with a plate riveted to the back. If I ever need to change it, I will use the Edlebrock.
