Hey guys-
Searched the forums and can’t really find any guidance on water pump installations. Any help in terms of the process to include the belt would be so much appreciated!

As long as you have tools, common mechanical sense, and patience there is nothing challenging about a water pump removal.
you must remove the coolant unless you want to dump it all on the garage floor when the pump comes off
this would be the perfect time to check and replace your thermostat. Make sure you get the correct one by just ordering a 185° unit from Tim Meyer, many references to him in the archives.
for improved coolant flow, I would recommend a pump from edelbrock or Flowcooler that has the backing plate on the impellers
that should be enough to get you started. Post again if you reach a problem point

Thanks Larry managed to get her on today. at first I didn’t know how to get the belt off but then realized I could loosen the alternator and slide it to the right. from there everything was pretty straightforward.
question do you know the torque spec on the water pump pulley bolts?
I’m sure there is a “proper” torque, but for things like this, I just tighten until it seems to be sufficient, and that has worked for me, decade after decade
if concerned about proper torque, you don’t need to find a specific torque list, but can use general torques based on bolt size and thread.
