As long as you have tools, common mechanical sense, and patience there is nothing challenging about a water pump removal.

you must remove the coolant unless you want to dump it all on the garage floor when the pump comes off

this would be the perfect time to check and replace your thermostat. Make sure you get the correct one by just ordering a 185° unit from Tim Meyer, many references to him in the archives.

for improved coolant flow, I would recommend a pump from edelbrock or Flowcooler that has the backing plate on the impellers

that should be enough to get you started. Post again if you reach a problem point
