What guage is the floor? | The De Tomaso Forums

Hello all,
I've got my interior stripped out for some refurbishment and found a small area of rust in the drivers floor. Since I only do this kind of work once every 2 or 3 decades I'm hoping someone can tell me what thickness of sheet metal to use for the repair.
Also, can some one explain why there are little "v" cuts through the floor at the ends of the floor depressions? Unless there is a good reason why I shouldn't, I plan to fill them with body caulking.

I am not sure the thickness, probably 18 gauge, but the v cutouts are actually drains for when you might get water in the floor from shoes or a leaky windshield.

The floor is 20 gauge 0.85mm (0.033")
