In trying to legalize my recently acquired US Pantera, I have to have white parking lights and yellow blinkers. Has anybody a good solution to getting this done on the early cars like mine where it's placed in the bumper?

An alternative is to put white 21W lights behind the grille, but I'd prefer the cleaner look if possible.

Hi Mikael,
I didn't have any problem getting my '74 approved at the FDM syn with only white front blinkers/position lights (i.e. no yellow lens or bulb), and with the original US all red tail lights (no orange blinker lens). I said that it was originally for the US market and that was the way it was sold. Unless they have recently changed the rules I think you should try it as is and see if they complain at the inspection.
Cheers, Tim.
Alternatively, you could install a set of Larry Finch's conversion wide-body front parking light lenses, which have 1/2 white and 1/2 yellow lenses, with dual bulbs. They are a nice match to the GR-4 tail light lenses which he also sells. The conversion is required because the early body light cut-outs are different than the late Pantera, so a direct swap doesn't work well.

Get a pair of clear/white turn signal lenses. Tell the officials those are the running lights, and the side markers are the blinkers.

Or for a more involved solution...
Cut the clear lenses in half and do the same to your yellow lenses and glue/epoxy them together to make two toned lenses. You will then need to modify the bulb housing by moving the existing bulb socket, adding a bulb socket, and putting a wall plate between the two halves.

Here's a picture of a friends Pantera with the white turn signal lenses. I've emailed him to find out where he bought them and will let you know.

Here's a picture of my old Pantera, it had the exact lights I need for my new. Some say it's Austin 1100, but googling that picture shows a much wider yellow and narrower white, and more square lens with rounded corners.

The ones I had looked quite square and cheap and had no chrome or anything, maybe for a trailer? The lens is marked "E11 6585 E11 7729 England" and had a logo with two parallelograms in a rectangle...

Any ideas?

Mikael,

I did not notice when we where at Le Mans that your old red car does not have original front indicator side lamps. They do fit well though. I assume that was originally an American car? I am sure you will be able to find something similar. The Austin 1100 lamps where only fitted to English registered Panteras (I have them on mine) I painted the bezel black though. Even the pod that holds them is different to other European Panteras. Some of the European Panteras used the Alfa Alfeta front lamp this also used a unique pod.

I've come a step further. After spending some hours on Google Pictures I found this Indian company that produces for tractors and buses (no jokes please...)

Link to Hi-Lux

I haven't measured yet, but I'm sure I can find one that fits. But I can't see any dealers anywhere, I'm not sure about sending money to India (if they'll ship to me). Would there be an equivalent European or US based company producing these simple square old-school lamps? Or is any of you going by India shortly? Wink
