I am in the middle of my restoration, and getting close to pulling the trigger for fender flairs.

For years I have been set on doing an all steel group 4, but lately something has just seemed off to me on the group 4, and the GT5 has had more appeal. I am thinking the reason might be the side skirts/running boards on the GT5. To me (this is my opinion only so please no arguments) the side skirts/running boards seem to fill out part of the car, and give it a sleeker look.

So I got to wondering if running boards or side skirts would do the same to a group 4, so does anyone have pictures of a group 4 with side skirts/running boards? (Sorry for a long winded picture request)

Thanks,
Dave

I have considered flaring my car but am still undecided in undertaking such a huge and expensive project.

In person I have a tendency to lean towards the GT5. When I had my transaxle recently redone I had the opportunity to look at several GT5’s and Group 4 conversions in various stages in Castle Rock, Colorado. I also felt the running boards on the GT5 seemed to finish them off.

However, awhile ago I ran across a GT5 on the forum from Saudi Arabia. The car is a GT5 without running boards. There have not been any updates on the car in over a year but I thought that the car looked very cool without the running boards. Here is the forum links for two photo albums of the car:

In February there was some discussion regarding some rear deck vents on a Group 4 car. This car appears to have some lower side skirts. It also is a good looking car.

Just some other ideas to maybe help you in your decision making process. Best of luck.
