I am in need of new brush set for #2636 wiper motor. A quick search of the forum a yielded no part number or source.
I was wondering how the brushes are held in " apart" until the armature is engaged? The brush end endcap is capped so no access to brushes, Expected to see a spreader inside.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jerry Sr

Do you have a picture of the rest of the assembly? As I recall this may be an XKE motor.
I could reuse the brushes but the springs are rusted away. Hate to trash it over $15 worth of parts 😞
Correction: brushes at the accessable end of the motor (not sure what I was thinking) and I figured out the park mechn.

The wiper assembly is definitely jaguar in origin.
A UK source for parts has been posted in this form previously.

The Brushes are Held Back Tied with a piece String, each, compressing the spring with the brush out of the way. Once the Armature is slid in, the String is pulled out. OR, did I mis understand your Question?
Also, if needed, the insulation in between the Commutator contacts...be sure they are cut down deep enough, so as to NOT LIFT UP and prevent the brushes from making contact.

Do you know what year XKE ? I read XKE motors are used but missed what years.
May as well park as much information as possible in this thread, it may be easier for others to find.
SVG Stafford Vehicle Components is a great source. I will have to browse their website.
The price is £15.84 as shown in the link Forest provided, but they do a great job of hiding it in small print.
as for my link not working, it works fine at my end. I always double check my links just to avoid that problem. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
