Yokohama 285/40ZR-15

As some have asked:
The new 285/40-15 Yokohama tires are marked DOT-FDUB and E-4.

Does Yokahama only manufacture these tires in Europe ?

Actually my understanding is that they were in fact only manufactured for the European market. As proof, they lack the DOT-required moldings required by law to be sold through their distributors... I thought I had heard that a US vendor (Marino???) ordered some of these but could be mistaken.

Pity they won't manufacture some for the US.

Yokohama made them also for the US market, they carry a DOT-mark. In fact they are marked like the tires I bought from Tire Rack 4-5 years ago.

As this batch was made against firm orders only and the US distributor did not want to order for stock, no tires entered the US market.

We must remember that the market for 285/40-15 tires is very small, Rear on Renault Turbo II, Rear on Lamborghini Silhouette and front on Pantera GT5/GT5s� and also that Pirelli made a batch 2-3 years ago and that tires have been available all the time (at least here in EU).

The situation here in Scandinavia was similar, none of the Importers wanted to place a stock order.
I managed, with help of the Swedish importer, to place an order direct to the factory in Japan. Delivery time was about 6 months.
