I currently have a -1 trans-axle and was wondering if I should sell it for a -2.

I was told that they are worth some money because parts are hard to get for them. I'm told they are being bought up for parts.

Does anyone know what they are worth? I haven't had it in my car yet, the car is still in the fab shop. I also have a new bell housing for it.

If it fits a Pantera, it's what Lloyd Butfoy calls a dash-1.5: a hybrid of a Pantera diff case and a Mangusta transmission. The diff case used a special two-vent-hole bell housing & had 4 side-bolts going from bosses to special diff side plates that often cracked. Many differences inside too, starting with the gearing. Lloyd says most of the special parts are not available new. Some parts will interchange with the GT-40 ZF which is now known as a dash-zero.

The dash-2 is slightly larger, heavier and stronger, has better availability of spare parts, uses the later clutch rather than the Mangusta spline-size clutch disc, and higher gearing for more mileage and greater top speed but slightly less acceleration. For road use, I'd swap ZFs but if you have an early '71, the dash-1.5 is concours-correct. Ideally, you'd also keep the hybrid box for your heirs to fight over.
Bill, Can you post pics? Does the trans have 4 or 6 mounting bolts, Do you have the bellhousing? what is the serial number of the gearbox? Are the serial numbers lined-up or one on top and other on bottom.

Again, thanks for all your help.
