Soon I am pulling the zf out and getting it polished, I will also safety wire it, if it has not already been done.
I did a search and i saw 80-90 wt oil for the gearbox. Is this still the general reccomendations ? would a full synthetic help here ? With the value of this box I don't care if I have to spend up on the best oil for it.
While it is out any suggestions ?

Pulling mine out is planned for next winter season. All she's getting this year is an oil change.

After checking for the safety wiring, an internal inspection and general detailing I'd really like to see about the possibility of either a 3:77(?) ring and pinion (muy expensivo) or changing my fifth gear ratio (not so expensivo?) to lower engine RPM's on the highway.

I must be doing it wrong, because I did this BEFORE posting and I only really found 1 item.
I just tried again with the term you said 'ZF Lubrication' and only got 2 posts.
So I don't quite know if 'beaten to death' is the right term.
Plus I have been an active member on this forum for the last 6 months, so would have seen it.

I always use a good synthetic 75w-85w gear lubricant in the ZF.
What will leak are the o ring on the rear cover.

You need to add either transmission stop leak which contains brake fluid or two tablespoonfulls of brake fluid. Now don't ask me Dot 3 or silicone , ok?

The brake fluid will swell the rubber o-rings and eventually dry up the leak.

It is common for the o-rings to leak with conventional lube as well so I don't think it is the synthetic to blame but I'm not going to argue about it.
