ZF Right Angle Drive

I know this ahs been kicked around a lot, and I have done many searches regarding my question so here goes...Speedo stopped working, bought a new cable and installed, still doesn't work. The little extension from the angle drive isn't turning. I would like to pull the drive out, but don't want anything falling down into the tranny. Question two...what can break in this drive unit? Question three...Is the angle drive adjustable or do you snug the nut up to the ZF? Any help would be appreciated...Pappy
