2nd Gear Grinding

I can only say now is the time to look at having service,the synchro ring is like a brake disc for the gear, and when the brake disc wears out you hit the rotor or (gear), then the price goes up.

I realize this is an open ended question depending on what has to be done.
But what is the costs for servicing a ZF ?

I would ballpark it around $1100 to $1500 that is labor, seals, gaskets, ring gear bolts,thrust washer,shims and complete tear down inspection, unless you are into a ring and pinion or some type of other major work.

Mine is acting up. It grinds very slightly going from 1st to 2nd, some what aggressive on the gas, no other gears grind going forward. 3rd to 2nd doesn't grind at all in down shifting.
Gearbox feels so smooth otherwise.
Could this be a linkage adjustment or a shifter centering adjustment ?

I would say a clutch ajustment first,or a synchro is getting low.
