did you try "jiggling" the steering wheel while you turned the key?

make sure that the lock is not pushed in, it happened on mine so i put the key pulled out to get the lock flush, then put the key back in slowly and make sure it's all the way in and it should work.

I had the same problem with mine all the time. I eventually removed the ignition switch and took it to a locksmith who cleaned it up as best as he could. The switch still sticks in on occasion. I just giggle or tap on it to get it to pop out, then my key will turn in the switch.

Same here. Sometimes it helps if I remove the key and turn it 180 degrees and reinsert it. It is amazing we all just put up with it this way, but there are no alternatives.

thanks for the advice. been a problem for 3 years.the key finally turned. this time it took alot longer. i guess it won't heal itself

In a situation where old grease is possibly gumming up the part its "supposed" to be lubricating, a judicious "spritz" of WD40 will often help loosen things up until you can disassemble, clean & relube. Be careful with plastic, try a small dab first on a non-critical area to make sure it doesn't soften the plastic.

Upon teardown, relube the part with synthetic grease, such as that sold by Mobil 1, so far I have not had that product gum up on me and it takes high temps better too.
