I dont believe if it's overpriced , I see the regular aircleaners go for the same price.
it is blasted and only the flat top shield is missing. the 2 snorkels are pop rivet, I can demount this to save shipping cost.on the back there are fittings for the vacuum and feul lines and trottle cable and e electrick connector.Maybe it needs no top shield ,but only a squere filter?

WPL,

I'll chime and say haggling over a $250 part for a $125K car seems a little harsh. The $250 asking seems an absolute bargain for what is a 1 of 29 piece, never to be reproduced. IMO the fact that someone has one and is willing to sell it is worth the $250 alone no matter condition.

As the future prices of the 5S cars climbs so will the price of original parts as IMO originality will be key to realizing full potential. I'm going to start stashing parts now and hang on to anything I have, in fact I'd give Simon $250 for the air cleaner without hesitation!

I can still have all of the parts and cut aluminum skins to build a new box but the time required is extensive. The pictured blasted box is missing alit of the parts invcluding the vacuum harness, lid and some other internal controls. The box was needed for evap emissions. Original or new, a complete air box in working condition would be 1000.00 or more. Based on the pictures, repairing this one may be close to 1000.00 in parts and time. The snorkles have trap doors that would not fair well by sand blasting, sorry.

Hello Julian; You are a welcome breeze of reason.
Do the math...1% of 125,000.00 is $1,250.00..a 1/4 of $1,250.00 is approximately $312.50...Just BUY the DAMN part for $250.00 & consider yourself fortunate!!!...Mark

I was thinking to do somebody a pleasure
Simon
O, I forget the door traps are working and there are some vacuum lines by the box.
Hello Simon; You were attempting to do someone a pleasure/favour, obviously your generosity was seemingly over looked, Please do NOT let it hinder your future acts of generosity, as my father use to state..."No good deed goes unpunished".

On aside note, I still have my eyes OPEN for that Boss 302 for you!...Mark
Simon,

Your is very fair for a buyer doing their own restoration. My new build price was a best guess from memory only and I would only build one by time and material only which could be much higher---and I assure you it is not in my plans to make . The point is that what you have is hard to build and very time consuming. It is well worth what you are asking. Sorry for the confusion---you have a very hard to replace hand built part. Good luck with the sale.
I have a line on one of these (I believe) from a 1988 GT5-S. It was removed from the car (with the original carb) in about 1990 by the first owner.

I believe it's from Amerisport Car Number 1025.

PM me if there is any interest. If somebody is interested, I will work with the seller to get pictures of the box and carb.

DISCLOSURE: The seller wants a fair offer, and I expect a little bit of a finder's fee. Don't be upset.

If there is no interest, that's fine too!
Rocky
Here's a series of pictures of the air box. As you can see, it has some (all?) of the original plumbing, and has a carb inside. Not sure which one (Maybe Kirk will chime in), but it was reputed to be the original one delivered with Amerisport #1025.

It was removed in about 1990, and has been sitting ever since.

I have a buyer that is interested - I am just posting these here for historical purposes.
