Thanks for the tip.
I think it was IPSCO that had ONE, the LAST element in existence for my air cleaner setup, which he sent me for free.
Hopefully it'll fit, and then I can take the other two pieces I have and cut them, and join them into one other good filter and I'm set.
Wow? Is there an echo in here? I thought I said to try IPSCO for the filter and got over-ruled? I think my exhausts must be too loud? It is rattling around the last two marbles I have left in my head? Gee-se that rattle is maddening?
I know nada about cutting air cleaners/filters and joining them to make one again, but that sounds to me like taking something built to be intact and butchering it. Will that not create a possible source of stuff to be sucked into the engine if your "separating and joining" isn't perfect? Just curious.

I call IPSCO, I think he's the one that's sending me the last existing element for the air cleaners I have that they used to make like 20 years ago.
K&N stopped making elements for that size, and they changes their design to work with a different filter, a long time ago.
I THINK it was IPSCO, I did call everyone you recomended, and everyone was helpful.
One of those guys is sending me one last element that should fit my air cleaners, and I should be able to use the other two pieces I have from my two filters (joining them will be easy) I have now to form another good element for the other side.
I do listen Doug, and I appreciate your posts.

Not to upset you but I think you are going to need to run the engine without the filters to determine the cause on the new black plugs.
K&N has the habbit of discontinuing filters all of the time. The ones I have were too.
Easy solution. Put on screens or run around naked.
Do you know that it is not illegal to drive naked?

I did not know that it is not illegal to drive naked.
I've been naked in my car a bunch of times in the past, but that's cause we were-a-rockin in the back seat!
I talked with the guy at IPSCO I think it was. He said what I had was the air cleaners they sold 22 years ago, and K&N actually made an element for them.
They've since changed the design to work with a newer K&N filter.
The baseplates basically are different for each different setup, Webers, different injections, so they now make an air cleaner that covers all those systems, and that has a much wider rubber base grommet seal.
He sent me the last correct (I hope) element in existance for my exact air cleaner, and I'll cut and join the other 2 to make a proper fittng second filter, and I'll be all set.
Then it's on to the other 2000 things i need to do to get the car back together.
I hope to have it together and runnning, driving around by tomorrow.

I got a new perfect fitting element for one side, and used a segment from one of the other "shorty" filters to fill the 1.5" gap.
I coated the ends with rubber body undercoating to hold any stray wire or paper that might have decided to come loose, but it came out as perfect as I ever could have imagined.
