OK, I know I'm a ways away from doing this yet....but figured a good head start is always something that I need......

For you folks with the original paper tubes that go up to the air cleaner from the rear of the car.... What do the paper tube hangers look like, ie construction, and where exactly are they anchored on each side of the engine bay???

I have obtained original paper tubing and would like to use it, but I know that you just can't throw the stuff back there! Smiler

Lemmeno! Ciao!

That is one of 9 truckloads. The paint is the "extra" that came with the car. Big Grin

The bike is there because I hauled one of my loads after a bike ride.

In this particular load you can see radiator, 4 ac condensers, ac unit, all the brake lines wrapped up with a nylon tie, stock mufflers, aftermarket headers, stock headers, spare tire, coolant tubes and on the far right the swaybars still wrapped in plastic from the powder coater.
Jerry,

Thanks for the shots!!!!

I checked my rear section last nite for "mystery holes" and found four that appear to be the original locations for the tubing supports!!! However, they did not appear to be large 6mm type, but more like sheet metal screws were used on #878. A production deviation perhaps...

OK, I rechecked my checking and found "sheet metal screw" sized holes on the LH side of my car (viewed from rear) and 6mm type bolt holes on the RH side of my car! THAT is what I would call a production deviation...... Of course I have none of the original fastners....or hangers......

I must say, the bracing on this car, for the AC unit and the alternator are like none I've seen yet! Also, it looks like the welding around the L & R trans support is rather interesting!

I also noted the triangular bracing in the rear corner of the frame in that last shot! I do not recall seeing that on #878, so may have been a "new" thing somewhere along the line!

The threaded bit on the spare tire mount is also an "outie" where mine is an "innie"....

Thanks again!
Another question or three....
Do these appear to be made of thin steel or aluminum!?

They look to be about 17-18mm wide?

Steve Hangers are made of thin steel between 1/16 in. and 1/32 in. thick. Will precisely measure the width tomorrow. and describe the attachment hardware.Incidentally the previous owner paid 600$+ to rebuild the Autolite carb and it looks great, just doesn't work above idle, causing the car to surge repeatedly between 2000 and 3000 rpm.Must be dumping gas in. Replaced it with a conventional Holley and now the car starts immediately and runs like a bat out of hell smoothly through the full rpm range!Any experiance out there on the drivability of the Autolite?
